In Georgia, court releases on bail defendants in Irakli Okruashvili's case

Today, in Georgia, the court granted the motion filed by the defence and released on bail the defendant accused in the case against Irakli Okruashvili, ex-Minister of Defence.

Together with Irakli Okruashvili, Khvicha Sabashvili, Giorgy Gabrashvili, Gabriela Pavliashvili Tamaz Begiashvili, and Zazu Betlemadze are accused of membership in illegal armed formation. On January 11, the judge granted the motion filed by prosecutors, and Irakli Okruashvili was released in the courtroom.

Today, the other defendants in the case were released on bail in the amount of 2000 laris (about 1300 US dollars). This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Mamuka Chabashvili, the advocate of Irakli Okruashvili.

"The result of the today's hearing is in the fact that the six persons who were accused of membership in an armed formation were released on bail in the amount of 2000 laris for each person. They have a 20-day period to make bail. However, I believe that the trial will be completed in acquittal prior the deadline and they will not have to pay the money," Mamuka Chabashvili has stated.
