Military Commandant's Office of Chechnya: in 2013, more than 700 hectares of agricultural lands to be demined
In this March, combat engineers intend to resume works to clear agricultural lands in the Chechen Republic. Till the end of the year, it is planned to demine more than 700 hectares of land areas in the foothills and mountainous areas of the republic. This was reported by the Military Commandant's Office of the republic.
In 2012, the combat engineers managed to demine about 55 percent of the territories to be demined till 2015, the Military Commandant's Office of the republic reports. "This is an excellent result, especially if we take into account the fact that during mine clearance, no cases of death or injury of military men occurred," a source at the Military Commandant's Office of the republic has emphasized.
Prior to 2015, the combat engineers are to demine in Chechnya 16,520 hectares of agricultural lands and 7336 hectares of forest lands.
