700 to 2000 people took part in an action of memory of Markelov and Baburova in Moscow

An anti-fascist action in memory of lawyer Stanislav Markelov and journalist Anastasia Baburova was held in Moscow.

Many people were holding posters, the slogans of the action were: “Moscow is an anti-fascist city”, “Never forget, never forgive!”, “The city against fascism”, “Fascism kills, the authorities cover it up”, “Down with fascism, homophobia and sexism!”. All the participants abstained from any party symbolics.

Security measures were intensified along the route: about 15 to 20 police buses were parked on the road borders.

The participants of the action laid flowers in Prechistenka street where Markelov and Baburova were shot down in 2009. The people also set their portraits and lit candles. About 700 persons took part in the action, “Interfax” reports.

“About 2000 people are present”, Coordinator of the “Left Front” Sergey Udaltsov estimated in his micro-blog on the Twitter.

People in Russia and other countries started holding anti-fascist actions on January, 19, after the double murder. On May, 5, 2011, Nikita Tikhonov and Evgenia Khasis involved in nationalist organizations were convicted for Markelov and Baburova’s murder.
