A monument to Stalin in Georgia poured over with paint

Tonight unidentified people in the Georgian settlement of Zemo Alvani, Kakhetia, poured pink paint over a restored monument to Joseph Stalin.

According to preliminary information, the monument was poured over with paint late at night because local residents noticed pink paint only this morning, “Georgia-Online” reports.

The act of vandalism caused local residents’ indignation for several tens of them gathered near the monument demanding to find the vandals. They found keys to a car near the monument, “Tbilisi Week” reports.

The monument to Stalin dismantled on June, 16, 2011, was brought back to its place by the new authorities of the district in November of 2012.
