"ReAl" ready to nominate Azerbaijani presidential candidate

In Azerbaijan, the public movement "Republican Alternative" (ReAl) declared its intention to nominate its candidate for the presidential election of 2013, if during the next month the opposition forces fail to work out a common pre-election platform and to nominate a single candidate.

The issue of the upcoming presidential election was discussed at the meeting of the board of the organization held on January 6. The participants of the meeting agreed till the end of the first decade of February to take a final decision on the participation of the movement in the election.

The presidential election in Azerbaijan was scheduled for October 16, 2013. On that day, the term of office of current President Ilham Aliev expires.

"If during the next month we do not get responses from other political forces to our initiatives in connection with the election, then we will nominate own candidate," the "Caucasian Knot" was told by Ilgar Mamedov, Chairman of the "ReAl".
