In Volgograd, Communists mark USSR anniversary by automobile rally and meeting
Today, the Volgograd Regional Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) has held a motor rally and meeting dedicated to the 90th anniversary of formation of the USSR.
On December 30, 1922, the First Congress of Soviets, which gathered delegates from the RSFSR (Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic), the Ukrainian and Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republics, and the Transcaucasian Federation, signed the Declaration on Formation of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) and the Union Treaty. The USSR had existed for almost 70 years; and in December 1991, Belarus, Russia and Ukraine stated the termination of its existence and signed an agreement on establishment of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
The motor rally "From Lenin to Lenin" of about 10 cars took off from Lenin Square in the city of Volzhskiy and ended in the Lenin Square in Volgograd. Then, Communists held a meeting at the monument to the leader of the world proletariat.
About 50 people came to Lenin Square in Volgograd. A poster "USSR is our homeland" was installed at the monument to Lenin.
