Ex-Minister of Justice of Georgia Zurab Adeishvili charged in absentia

The General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) of Georgia has indicted in absentia the former Minister of Justice Zurab Adeishvili of abuse of office, organization of humiliation and inhuman treatment of prisoners, as well as of falsification of a criminal case.

In September, Georgia detained three employees of Gldani Prison on suspicion of ill-treatment of inmates. On December 21, the GPO issued a statement saying that Adeishvili was the customer of the videos depicting acts of torture.

According to the GPO's statement of December 28, Adeishvili was recognized as a defendant, the "Georgia Online" reports.

Among other things, the ex-Minister of Justice is accused of an especially grave crime, namely, according to prosecutors, of falsifying proofs of a criminal case and provoking a crime.

The point is in the falsification of the materials distributed by the MIA on September 19. According to the investigation, the videos of abusing prisoners were filmed under the order of Zurab Adeishvili, the "News-Georgia" reports.
