Georgian soldier who disappeared in Afghanistan found dead

On December 29, the Georgian Sergeant George Kikadze, who disappeared in Afghanistan, on December 19 was found dead. The circumstances of his death will be made public at the end of the inquiry, Irakli Alasaniya, the Minister of Defence of Georgia, said at a special briefing.

The Minister noted that the participants of the international mission in Afghanistan have a great responsibility, and to prevent "such tragedies in the future they need to be cautious and accumulate combat experience."

Mr Alasaniya said that the family of the deceased soldier had been notified about the tragedy, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports. Currently, organizational measures are taken for transporting the Sergeant's body to Georgia.

Georgian soldiers participate in the international peacemaking operation since 2009. This October, the contingent was increased up to 1571 servicemen.
