Court again declares illegal the idling of investigation in the case of Dubrovka assault
Today, the Lefortovo Court of Moscow has once again found that the refusal of investigators to institute criminal proceedings against the officers who commanded the operation of liberating the hostages from the Dubrovka Theatrical Centre in 2002 was illegal.
In October, the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) rejected the claim of the victims' defence to initiate a criminal case against the commanders of the special operation during the terror act on October 23, 2002. However, the Lefortovo Court later found the rejection illegal. Then, the Prosecutor's Office filed a complaint that was satisfied by the Moscow City Court. The defence appealed against the decision.
Today, the complaint lodged by the lawyer Igor Trunov, who represents the victims, was granted by the court, the "Interfax" reports.
According to Mr Trunov, the investigator has failed to provide the court with clear arguments, under which he refused to open a criminal case on the terror act in Dubrovka. "We ask for a reasoned explanation of the investigator about his inaction," the RIA "Novosti" quotes Trunov as saying.
