Dismissal of MSTU Rector causes protests of teachers and students

Today, the order of the Minister of Education and Sciences of the Russian Federation Dmitry Livanov has dismissed Hazrat Blyagoz, the Rector of the Maikop State Technological University (MSTU). Teachers and students of the university are planning to hold a protest action against his dismissal.

"The reasons for dismissal are unknown to us. Under the law, the Minister of Education and Sciences has the right to sign an order to dismiss the rector of any university without giving any reasons," Alij Kudaev, the head of the department for media and PR of the MSTU, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Mr Kudaev has also noted that the dismissal of the Rector of the MSTU, who was re-elected by the majority of the Academic Council in April 2012, is bewildering, since the university is credible and has passed all the necessary checks and inspections.
