Supreme Court of Dagestan leaves Gunashev in custody

Today, the Supreme Court of Dagestan has considered a compliant lodged by the advocate of the anaesthetist Marat Gunashev, accused of involvement in the murder of the Chief of Police in Makhachkala, and upheld the decision of the Lenin District Court of Makhachkala on the extension of Gunashev's custody until January 27, 2013.

Marat Gunashev, an anaesthetist from the Makhachkala hospital, was detained on November 28 in the surgery room. He denies his involvement in the murder of the head of the Makhachkala UVD (Interior Department) Akhmed Magomedov.

Currently, Gunashev is kept in SIZO-1 (pre-trial prison) of Vladikavkaz under decision of the investigator Filippov, as the lawyer Zaur Magomedov, Gunashev's advocate, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Marat Gunashev participated in the session via video conference. He described the circumstances of his detention and writing his complaint and asked to change his freedom restraint. However, the court refused to change the ruling of the lower instance.
