Two Georgian citizens released in South Ossetia
The South-Ossetian authorities released two Georgian citizens who were earlier detained on charge of illegal crossing of the Georgian-South Ossetian border.
Khvicha Glurdjidze, a resident of the village of Bershueti of the Gori District, and Vasil Salamashvili, a resident of the village of Sakorintlo of the Kaspi District of Georgia, were detained by Russian border guards on May 3 and May 8, respectively.
According to the Georgian side's version, the release of the detainees was ensured through intensive negotiations of the Information and Analytical Department of the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), Chief Department of Internal Affairs of the Shida Kartli Region and representatives of the European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM) in Georgia with representatives of the authorities of South Ossetia. This was reported by "News-Georgia" with reference to the press service of the Georgian MIA.
The negotiations were conducted through a "hot line", the "Georgia Online" reports.
