Volgograd: picketers demand work for prisoners

Today, Volgograd has hosted a picket in defence of prisoners' labour rights. The protesters demanded to provide full employment opportunities to current and former prisoners.

The action was attended by five persons, who stood with posters: "MIA! Control employment of inmates!", "Everyone has the right to work!", "Help former prisoners to find work!", "We demand from Federal Penitentiary Service to provide inmates with employment!"

The picket was agreed with the authorities; and up to 30 picketers were expected, as Viktor Voronkov, the Labour Inspector of the Territorial Association (TA) "Sotsprof" told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Today, the employment problem of the inmates and those who go at large is put to itself, said Evgeniy Mogilyov, the chairman of the TA "Sotsprof".
