Georgia: workers of oil terminal in Kulevi Port go on strike

Today, workers of the oil terminal in Kulevi Port have gone on a strike demanding higher wages and better working conditions.

The workers held their three-hour-long warning action on December 21. According to the United Trade Union of Georgia, during the action, which was attended by about 200 workers of the terminal, the administration expressed no willingness to resume negotiations.

The trade union of the workers of the terminal has decided to start, in accordance with the legislation of Georgia, a full-scale strike 24 hours after the warning action, the "Georgia Online" reports.

The strikers call on the administration of the terminal to reinstate seven fired employees, who had been illegally, according to the union, sacked; sign termless labour contracts with the workers; stop harassing trade union leaders and members; and start negotiations on higher wages, the "Interfax" reports.
