ICRF: defendant suspected of brutal murder of Volgograd resident makes confession

The murder of a young man in Volgograd was committed because of his unconventional sexual orientation, one of the detainees, suspected of committing the crime told investigators. This was reported by Badma Gilyandikov, a representative of the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).

He has stressed that at present, the investigation into the version of the crime commitment because of the sexual orientation of the victim is underway. "This information has not been verified, and it was voiced by a suspect," the investigator has said.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 10, in the yard of an apartment building in Volgograd, a body of a young man was found with multiple injuries, including injuries in genital area. A 22-year-old acquaintance of the victim, who studied together with him at the same school, and a 27-year-old local resident, who had earlier criminal records for thefts, were detained for suspicion of committing the murder. One more young man, who, according to the investigators' version, was not engaged in the crime commitment, but who watched it, is involved in the case as a witness.

In the course of the investigation, the murdered young man was identified that was 23-year-old Vladislav Tornovoy. According to the investigators' information, the killed man got broken ribs and the head broken with a stone. Besides, the criminals stripped young man naked and put into his anus of three beer bottles. The investigators also think that the criminal tried to set the body on fire.

One of the persons detained on suspicion of the murder of Vladislav Tornovoy, confessed to the crime. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Badma Gilyandikov, the senior investigator of the Investigatory Division of the Krasnoarmeisky District of Volgograd.

According to his story, the suspect, whose name was not disclosed, told the investigators that on May 9, he and several other persons were drinking beer on a bench of the children's playground. According to the detainee's confessions, during the conversation, they learned about unconventional sexual orientation of Vladislav Tornovoy.

According to Badma Gilyandikov's story, the other detainee did not confess to the crime. "The investigators will organize a confrontation between the detainees. On May 20, the charges will be filed against them," Badma Gilyandikov has explained.

Andrei Gapchenko, the senior investigator of the Investigatory Division of the Krasnoarmeisky District of Volgograd, believes that the murder could be motivated by a "personal animosity". "The guys drank too much alcoholic drinks, since a sober would never commit such a crime," he told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The investigator has also stated that the suspects are not members of any political or religious organizations.

"The murder of Vladislav Tornovoy represents 'a direct result of the dissemination of hatred from the public authorities with regard to citizens of the Russian Federation on the basis of their sexual orientation'," claims the statement posted on the blog of the Nizhny Novgorod social autonomous non-commercial organization (ANO) "LGBT Support".

The organization sent an official letter to Sergey Mironov, the leader of the "Spravedlivaya Rossiya" (Fair Russia) Party. According to the opinion of representatives of the organization "LGBT Support", Elena Mizulina, the MP from the faction of the "Spravedlivaya Rossiya" Party, has made statements designed to incite hatred with regard to people of unconventional sexual orientation, and she actively lobbies for the law banning propaganda of homosexuality, being discussed in the State Duma.
