Armenian journalists demand from Speaker to give political assessment of MP's incident with journalist

Thirty-five journalists of Armenian mass media wrote an open letter to the Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Ovik Abramyan with a demand to give a political assessment of the incident that occurred on December 19 at the National Assembly.

The incident became known through a video clip posted on the Internet showing Mger Sedrakyan, an MP from the Republican Party of Armenia, who threatened, in his conversation with Mger Arshakyan, a journalist of the "A1+", to "pull out his jaw, if they don't go away from there."

The letter specifically notes that the National Assembly has MPs, who "behave indecently with journalists. The today's incident with the deputy Sedrakyan with journalist Arshakyan is another proof."

Journalists demand from the Speaker to give a political assessment of the incident of the MP with the journalist, as well as to reprimand Mger Sedrakyan and oblige him to publicly apologize to the journalist.

In his turn, Mger Sedrakyan said, in his interview to the newspaper "168 Hours", that "he had not threatened the journalist; he just got angry when the latter, during his conversation with another person, approached them and began recording their conversation and videoing them."
