Court extends custody of defendants in Nalchik attack case by three months
At the trial of the case of the attack on Nalchik, the court has announced the decision to extend the term of the defendants' detention for another three months, until March 26, 2013.
While announcing the decision of the court, Judge Azamat Vologirov said that he did not see any reasons for changing the freedom restriction measure; therefore, "the measure in the form of detention will be extended."
With respect to the defendants Kazbek Budtuev, Sergey Kaziev, Zalim Ulimbashev and Anzor Ashev, whose detention was earlier replaced by the recognizance not to leave, the freedom restraint measure was also left unchanged.
Batyr Akhilgov, the advocate of the defendant Rasul Kudaev, has stated that he treats the extension of the detention as unlawful. "The defendants are in custody for more than seven years – all the reasonable terms have long expired," said the lawyer.
