Suspects involved in killing Markelov detained in Serbia and Ukraine
Ilya Goryachev and Mikhail Volkov, members of the "Combat Organization of Russian Nationalists" (known as BORN), suspected of involvement in the murders of the lawyer Stanislav Markelov and the judge Eduard Chuvashov, have been detained in the territory of Serbia and Ukraine, the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) reports.
According to investigators, the detainees Ilya Goryachev and Mikhail Volkov are also charged with involvement in assassinations of the leaders of anti-fascist movements Fyodor Filatov on October 10, 2008, Ilya Djaparidze on June 28, 2009, and Ivan Khutorskoy on November 16, 2009, of the world champion in Thai boxing Muslim Abdullaev on December 24, 2009, as well as in three other murders and two attempted murders.
Let us remind you that earlier, a number of sentences had been passed on these crimes. On May 6, 2011, the court sentenced - for killing Markelov and Baburova - Nikita Tikhonov to life imprisonment in a special security colony, and Evgenia Khasis - to 18 years in prison. On April 17, 2012, the 24-year-old Yuri Tikhomirov was found guilty of murdering Ilya Djaparidze and sentenced to 10 years in a high security colony.
The Basmanny District Court of Moscow has ordered the arrest of the detainees. The website of the ICRF reports that the issue of extradition of Goryachev from Serbia and Volkov from Ukraine is being considered.
