Detainees on case of corruption in Georgian MoA charged of embezzlement and misuse of funds

Representatives of the State Limited Liability Company (LLC) "Mechanic" and the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) of Georgia, detained on the case of corruption in the MoA, are charged of embezzlement and misuse of funds. This was reported by advocate David Khazhaliya.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 1, the law enforcement agencies of Georgia detained Omar Tedoradze, Department Head of the Georgian Ministry of Agriculture, Zaza Makharoblidze, Director of the Institute of Agricultural Mechanization, Vazha Nakhutsrishvili, Director of the LLC "Mechanic", his deputies Mamuka Ivanidze and Besik Tetvadze, and Otar Karchava, Professor of the Agricultural University.

David Khazhaliya, who represents the interests of Besik Tetvadze, has explained that, according to the investigators' information, his client together with other members of the working group assisted Vazha Nakhutsrishvili, Director of the LLC "Mechanic", "in the embezzlement of more than one million laris" (about 607,000 US dollars). Besik Tetvadze faces the sentence of up to 11 years of imprisonment.

The advocate has stated that some of the detainees face charges not only of embezzlement and misuse of funds (Article 178 of the Criminal Code of Georgia), but also under other Articles. He has also said that none of the detainees plead guilty, the "InterpressNews" reports.
