Detainees in case of Boston terror act face charges of impeding inquiry
Three young men, detained on the case of the terror act in the US city of Boston, were arrested. Two of them are charged of concealing and destroying evidences, and another one of giving false testimony.
The Boston police announced that Dias Kadyrbaev and Azamat Tazhayakov from Kazakhstan and Robel Philipos, an American citizen, were detained yesterday, on May 1. According to the investigators' information, all of them studied at the University of Massachusetts and got acquainted with Johar Tsarnaev, a 19-year-old native of Chechnya, accused of committing the terror act, on April 15 during a marathon.
According to the FBI's information, on April 18, three days after the terror act, Azamat Tazhayakov and Dias Kadyrbaev carried out of the Johar's room in the university dorm a PC and a backpack with fireworks without explosives that were removed and tried to hide those material evidences. Thus, the backpack with firecrackers was thrown to a landfill, where it was found by the FBI.
Till present, the police have no evidence that any of the three detainees knew about the terror acts prior to their commitment, the "Kommersant" reports.
According to the version of the advocates of young people, by their actions, they tried to release Johar Tsarnaev from the problems; however, they did not realize that he could really be involved in the double explosion at the marathon. Meanwhile, Azamat Tazhayakov and Dias Kadyrbaev agreed to cooperate with the investigators. This was reported by their advocates Harlan Protass and Robert Stahl in the air of the "Fox News".
Robel Philipos faces the charges that he gave false testimony to the investigators. Till present, comments from him or his advocates are not available.
The detainees are to appear before the court again on May 14, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
