Mikhalkina: jury passed fair verdict on fight at SC "Europeiskiy"
Oksana Mikhalkina, the victim's representative, has treated the jury's verdict in the case of the fight near the Shopping Centre (SC) "Europeiskiy" as lawful and fair. However, Darya Trenina, the advocate for the defendant, does not agree with her.
On June 5, 2012, in Moscow, at the SC "Europeiskiy", a fight burst out between natives of Northern Caucasus and football fans. During the fight, a football fan Alexei Usachov was injured. The charge of an attempted murder was presented to Bekkhan Rizvanov. The case was heard at the Moscow City Court (MCC) with a jury; and on April 26, a native of Chechnya Bekkhan Rizvanov was found guilty of attempted murder.
"The verdict is fair and handed down by ordinary people. I am pleased that the jury rendered a guilty verdict; I think it's absolutely fair and honest," Oksana Mikhalkina, the lawyer for the victim, expressed her view to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
In her turn, Darya Trenina, the defendant's lawyer, called the jury's verdict unfair.
"Rizvanov was charged with attempted murder, although there was an ordinary street fight. Besides, both parties of the conflict received insults and injuries; therefore, it was not fair to treat one person as a victim and the other one – convicted of attempted murder," said Trenina.
