Mass detentions undertaken in mosque "Darul Arqam"
On April 26, mass detentions of believers took place in the Moscow Muslim community "Darul Arqam". The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by a community member that the Imams of the mosque preached the ideology of moderate Islam and called for interethnic accord.
According to the FSB, 140 people were detained in the "Darul Arqam" on suspicion of involvement in extremist religious organizations. According to the Bureau, the mosque was visited by the believers, who subsequently joined the armed underground in Northern Caucasus.
Another parishioner of the community, who was an eyewitness of the incident, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that detention at the place of worship began after the Friday congregational prayer of Muslims.
According to the source, the detainees included both natives of Central Asia and Russians, mostly Dagestanis. "Several dozen people, mostly from the Central Asia, were not released. The building of the community was searched; computers and hard drives were confiscated," said the parishioner.
