MIA: more than 31 million roubles embezzled in repair of M-6 "Kaspiy"
Staff members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) and of the Federal Security Bureau (FSB) revealed the embezzlement of more than 31 million roubles allocated from the federal budget for the repair and maintenance of the highway M-6 "Kaspiy" Moscow-Astrakhan, the Russian MIA reports.
The heads of the Federal Public Institution (FPI) "Administration of Highway Moscow-Volgograd ('Kaspiy')", Limited Liability Company (LLC) "Road Construction Company 'Volga'" and the heads of several business organizations are suspected of organizing a criminal scheme.
According to the MIA's information, in March 2012, the FPI "Administration of highway Moscow-Volgograd ('Kaspiy')" has transferred more than 31 million roubles to the LLC "Road Construction Company 'Volga'" for the works on cutting the surface layer of asphalt-concrete road bed on a number of sections of the highway M-6 "Kaspiy". Meanwhile, the works have already been performed.
The staff members of the Chief Department of Economic Security and Anti-corruption Measures of the Russian MIA believe that the embezzled funds were cashed and distributed among the crime associates.
Criminal cases were initiated against the organizers and participants of the criminal scheme. The four persons involved in the case have already been detained; and more than 20 searches were carried out in the offices of contractors and subcontractors in Moscow, Tambov, and Volgograd.
