In Moscow, at trial on case of Yuri Budanov's murder, prosecutor asks to sentence defendant to 16 years of imprisonment
Today, the Prosecutor's Office asked the court to sentence Yusup Temerkhanov, a native of Chechnya, accused of the murder of ex-Colonel Yuri Budanov, to 16 years of imprisonment to be served in a penal colony of high security, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
Yesterday, on April 29, the court started listening of oral statements of the parties. During them, the Judge dismissed the motion of the Yusup Temerkhanov's defence to resume the investigation and return the case to the Prosecutor's Office. Relatives of the murdered ex-Colonel Yuri Budanov supported the prosecutors and asked the jury to find Yusup Temerkhanov guilty.
In addition to 16 years of imprisonment, Prosecutor Maria Semenenko also asked to sentence Yusup Temerkhanov to additional penalty of two years of custodial restrain.
Besides, the Prosecutor asked to reclassify the actions of Yusup Temerkhanov under Part 1 of Article "Murder" (Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), while earlier, the defendant was charged of murdering motivated by blood feud (Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
The Prosecutor's proposition is related to the fact that the jury found Yusup Temerkhanov guilty of murdering Yuri Budanov and rejected the version that the murder was motivated by hatred towards the social group of military personnel.
