Defendant in case on fight at SC "Evropeisky" sentenced to eight years of imprisonment
The Moscow City Court sentenced Bekhkan Rizvanov accused of attempted murder during the fight at the Shopping Centre (SC) "Evropeysky" (European) in Moscow, to eight years of imprisonment in a penal colony of high security.
In the course of the today's court session, prosecutor asked to sentence Bekhkan Rizvanov to 14 years of imprisonment in a penal colony of high security and to an additional penalty of two years of custodial restraint after his release. In turn, the defence filed a motion to reclassify the charge against the defendant to a less serious article, the RIA "Novosti" reports with reference to Daria Trenina, the advocate of Bekhkan Rizvanov.
In criminal sentencing of Bekhkan Rizvanov, the Court has taken into consideration the mitigating circumstances such as positive characteristics that were given from the Maimonides Academy, where the defendant studies, and the village in Chechnya, where he lived, the "Kommersant FM" reports.
The legal evaluation of the Bekhkan Rizvanov's actions has been overstated, and the defence should appeal against the verdict, the "Russian news service" quotes Mami Satuev, the former advocate of Bekhkan Rizvanov , as saying.
