In Quarter 4 of 2012, 215 persons fell victim to the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

At least 215 persons fell victim to the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus in Quarter 4 of 2012; of them, 126 persons were killed and at least 89 more were wounded. These are the results of the calculations made by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

The list of 126 casualties includes 81 persons, treated as members of illegal armed formations (IAFs), 23 employees of law-enforcement bodies and 22 civilians. The list of 89 wounded persons includes 74 employees of law-enforcement bodies, 14 civilians and one suspected member of the armed underground.

Dagestan remains the "hottest" point - during October, November and December, at least 126 persons fell victim to the armed confrontation; of them, 78 persons perished and 48 were wounded. The death toll includes 15 civilians, 11 employees of law-enforcement bodies and 52 persons, involved, under the data of law-enforcement bodies, in the actions of illegal armed formations (IAFs). The list of wounded persons includes six civilians, 41 law enforcer and one suspected militant.

In Kabardino-Balkaria, at least 39 persons fell victim to the armed conflict: 25 of them perished and 14 more were wounded. The death toll includes four employees of law-enforcement bodies, 17 persons, involved, according to information of law-enforcement bodies, in the armed underground, and four civilians. The list of wounded persons includes nine power agents and five civilians.

In Ingushetia, the count of victims includes at least 28 persons; of them, 15 persons were killed and 13 more were wounded. The death toll includes six employees of law-enforcement bodies, seven persons, involved, according to information of law-enforcement bodies, in the armed underground, and two civilians. The list of wounded persons includes 10 employees of law-enforcement bodies and three civilians.

In the territory of the Chechen Republic, at least 15 persons fell victim to the armed conflict; of them, five persons perished and 10 more were wounded. The death toll includes one law enforcer and four persons, involved, according to information of law-enforcement bodies, in the armed underground. Among wounded persons, there are 10 power agents.

In the territory of the Republic North Ossetia-Alania, in October, November and December 2012, 7 persons suffered from the armed conflict; of them, three persons perished and four more were wounded. The death toll includes one power agent, one person, involved, according to information of law-enforcement bodies, in the armed underground, and one civilian. Besides, four employees of law-enforcement bodies were wounded.

There were no victims of the armed conflict in Karachay-Cherkessia and in the Stavropol Territory.

The above statistics is unable to reflect, with a 100-percent precision, the number of victims under each of the categories specified in the report. Not all the data gets into news reports. It is not always possible to verify the truthfulness of the statements made by law-enforcement bodies.
