In Quarter 4 of 2012, Dagestan had 126 victims of the armed conflict

In Dagestan, in October, November and December 2012, at least 126 persons suffered from the armed conflict, ongoing in Northern Caucasus; of them, 78 persons perished and 48 were wounded. These figures resulted from the calculations made by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and on information from other open sources.

The death toll includes 11 power agents and 52 persons, involved, as stated by law enforcers, in the armed underground and 15 civilians. The list of wounded persons includes 41 power agents, six civilians and one person, registered in police reports as a militant.

In October, 53 persons suffered in the republic from the armed conflict; of them, 33 persons were lost and 20 persons were wounded. In November, 40 persons became victims, including 26 casualties and 14 wounded persons. In December - 33 victims, including 19 killed and 14 wounded persons.

The above statistics is unable to reflect, with a 100-percent precision, the number of victims under each of the categories specified in the report. Not all the data gets into news reports. It is not always possible to verify the truthfulness of the statements made by law-enforcement bodies.

In the first quarter of 2012, at least 116 persons fell victim to the armed confrontation of law-enforcement bodies and militants in Dagestan, including 83 killed and at least 33 wounded persons. In the second quarter of 2012, at least 237 persons fell victim to the conflict; of them, 102 persons were killed, and 135 more were wounded. During the third quarter, in the territory of Dagestan, at least 204 persons fell victim to the armed conflict; of them, 147 persons perished and 57 were wounded.

In 2011, the leading place by the number of victims of the armed confrontation among the regions of Northern Caucasus belonged to Dagestan, where the total number of victims of the conflict made at least 824 persons; of them, 413 casualties and 411 persons who received wounds of various gravity.

  • Two natives of Northern Caucasus injured in shootout near “Wildberries” office in Moscow
