In Pyatigorsk, former FSB officer sentenced for death of four persons in road traffic accident

The Pyatigorsk Garrison Military Court has found Maxim Svensky, a former FSB officer, guilty of a road traffic accident that killed four persons and sentenced him to 5 years and 7 months of imprisonment in a penal colony of settlement.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the road traffic accident occurred in the evening on November 4, 2012, on the 348th kilometre of the federal highway "Kavkaz" (Caucasus). As a result of collision of cars Honda CR-V and VAZ-2114, four persons were killed. Lieutenant Colonel Maxim Svensky, a FSB officer, was responsible for the road traffic accident. In March, the criminal case initiated against him was sent to the Pyatigorsk Military Court for consideration.

According to the prosecutors' version, at the moment of the road traffic accident, Maxim Svensky was in a state of alcoholic intoxication.

The Pyatigorsk Garrison Military Court has sentenced Maxim Svensky to 5 years and 7 months of imprisonment in a penal colony of settlement. Besides, he will have to pay four million roubles to the families of four persons killed in the road traffic accident, the "Interfax" reports.

Maxim Svensky was also deprived of his driver's license for three years; however, the Court did not deprive him of his title of Lieutenant Colonel, the "NTV" reports.
