In Karachay-Cherkessia, six persons fell victim to the armed conflict in the first quarter of 2013

In January, February and March 2013, in the territory of the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR), at least six persons fell victim to the armed conflict ongoing in Northern Caucasus, of whom four persons perished and two were wounded. These are the results of the calculations made by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

The list of casualties includes two persons, involved, according to law-enforcement bodies, in the armed underground, and two civilians. Two power agents are among those wounded.

In January, three persons fell victim to the armed conflict, two of them perished, and one more was wounded. In February, there were no victims; while in March, the KChR had three victims, including one casualty and two wounded persons.

One should understand that the presented statistics is unable to reflect, with a 100-percent precision, the number of victims under each of the categories specified in the report. Not all the data gets into news reports. It is not always possible to check the truthfulness of the statements made by law-enforcement bodies.

In 2012, in Karachay-Cherkessia, 7 victims included 5 casualties and 2 wounded persons; in 2011 there were 34 victims: 22 casualties and 12 wounded persons.

  • Two natives of Northern Caucasus injured in shootout near “Wildberries” office in Moscow

    A shootout took place near an office of the “Wildberries” Company in the centre of Moscow. As a result, at least one person has been killed and several others have been wounded, sources report.
