Armenian grandmaster ranked in world's top three players
Levon Aronyan, a chess player from Armenia, is the third in the rating list published on January 1 by the World Chess Federation (FIDE).
Levon Aronyan closes the top three players in the world in 2012; with his 2802 points he is behind Magnus Carlsen (2861 points) from Norway and Vladimir Kramnik (2810 points) from Russia.
The top ten also includes representatives of Azerbaijan, Italy, India, Bulgaria, and the United States. Sergey Karyakin from Russia is on the sixth place (2780 points), Timur Radjabov (2793) and Shakhriyar Mamedyarov (2766), chess players from Azerbaijan, are in the fourth and tenth places, respectively. This is reported by the rating placed on the FIDE's website.
According to the Federation of Sports Journalists of the country, Levon Aronyan has become one of the top ten athletes of Armenia in 2012. The Federation has composed its own ranking based on interviewing 30 staff members of local sports media, the "NovostiNK.ru" reports.
