Stepanakert Airport to start flights after New Year holidays, Ara Arutyunyan asserts

The Stepanakert Airport will start its first technical flights in early 2013. This was reported by Ara Arutyunyan, Prime Minister of Nagorno-Karabakh.

It is planned that one or two flights a day to Yerevan will be carried out from the Stepanakert Airport. The new airport was planned to be opened in mid-September 2011; however, till present, this has not happened.

"The Stepanakert Airport is ready to welcome aircrafts, and we expect the first flight every day after the New Year holidays," Prime Minister Ara Arutyunyan said to the press conference, held on December 28 in Stepanakert.

According to his story, "it is planned to start with technical flights that will last for 3-4 months; then, passenger flights will begin."
