Derbent needs psychologists and lawyers, volunteers report

Residents of the city of Derbent, affected by flooding of October 2012, are still in need of psychological support and financial aid. This was reported by Luiza Dibirova, the head of the Dagestani branch of the volunteer organization "Grazhdansky Korpus" (Citizens' Corps).

Today, the residents of the city reported re-flooding of their houses after rains and snowfalls in December 2012. According to them, re-flooding happens regularly in the city.

The volunteers have confirmed victims' reports and noted that people failed to dry their houses because of the weather conditions.

"Although we have received compensation in the amount of 25,000 roubles, this money is not enough for all that we need. We don't know what to choose: to repair our houses or to buy the most necessary things," said Emma Shakhragimova, a resident of Derbent.

According to journalist Nurlan Aliev, a volunteer of the "Grazhdansky Korpus", at present, the victims "are in need of heaters, bedding, and cots."
