Araik Petrosyan, suspected of killing the head of Proshyan, left in custody

The Court of Appeal has dismissed the complaint of the defence Araik Petrosyan, a suspect of killing the head of the village of Proshyan, and left him under arrest. The court hearing took place against the backdrop of a protest action of local residents.

On April 2, Grachya Muradyan, the head of Proshyan, was found dead near the administration building of the village. Brothers Artak and Araik Petrosyan were detained and arrested on suspicion of the murder; on April 5 Artak was released.

The Araik's defence challenged his arrest, but on April 18 the Court of Appeal upheld the decision on his freedom restriction, the "A1+" reports with reference to Givi Ovannisyan, the suspect's advocate.

On the day of the session, several dozens of residents of the village of Proshyan held a protest in front of the Court of Appeal and tried to block the highway "Ashtarak-Yerevan", but they were stopped by the police. The demonstrators demanded to stop criminal prosecution of both brothers, the "Epress.am" writes.
