FSB confiscates documents from SRRC office in Krasnodar
In Krasnodar, agents of the territorial department of the FSB (Russia's Federal Security Bureau) have made another search of the office of the Southern Regional Resource Centre (SRRC) and seized documents and electronic data carriers, said the employees of the Centre.
The search began at about 10:30 a.m., as Vasily Ptitsyn, the manager of the training and educational programmes, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
The search was conducted by five agents, who made a complete seizure of all documents, flash memory devices and computers. They checked the library of the Centre and examined the workplace of each employee, the "Novaya Gazeta" writes, quoting an unnamed source from the SRRC.
The "Interfax" reports that Tatiana Lyskina, President of the Centre, found it difficult to say whether the search had been associated with the arrest of Mikhail Savva, the director of the grant programmes of SRRC, Doctor of Political Sciences, Professor at the Kuban State University and a member of the Public Oversight Commission of the Krasnodar Territory for monitoring the respect of human rights in jails.
Mikhail Savva was detained on April 12. According to the above Department of the FSB, he was involved in embezzlement of the budget funds allocated by the administration of the Krasnodar Territory in the form of a grant. On April 13, the Oktiabrskiy District Court of Krasnodar considered Mr Savva's freedom restriction measure and ruled to arrest for two months. A picket and a rally in support of the Professor are planned in Krasnodar.
So far, no comments of the FSB Department for the Krasnodar Territory on the reasons and results of the search are available.
