No Murids of Jihad found in Chechnya

A special examination by Chechnya's Internal Affairs Ministry has shown there is no group called Murids of Jihad ("Holy War Disciples") in the republic, which had claimed responsibility for the terrorist act in Moscow's Metro on February 6.

"The information about a certain group called 'Murids of Jihad' that claimed responsibility for the terrorist act in the Metro is apparently gunmen's propaganda. There is no such group in Chechnya," Ruslan Atsaev, Press Secretary for Chechnya's Internal Affairs Ministry, said today.

"A specific examination has been conducted involving criminal investigation officers of the Internal Affairs Ministry; information has been collected from all districts in the republic, and residents have been contacted. We can assert there is no such group in the republic," Atsaev noted.
