200 people rally against closure of hospital in Volgograd Region
The village of Bereslavka, Kalachov District of Volgograd Region, hosted a rally against the closure of the inpatient ward of the district hospital and reduction of day-and-night and day beds.
There were posters in the hall reading: "We'll not keep silent! We'll not tolerate!", "Return inpatient wards to countryside!" and "Bureaucrat, sell your car and buy new ambulance!"
The Bereslavka District Hospital is servicing the population of two settlements - Zaryanskoe, inhabited by 1185 people, and Bereslavka with the population of 5542 persons. According to the protesters, they plan to close the hospital, leaving only the around the clock ambulance service.
The rally adopted a resolution, which expresses distrust to Alexander Zholuds, the head of the administration of the rural settlement, and demanded resignation of regional governor.
So far, the authorities gave no comments on protesters' demands.
