In Volgograd, more than 50 people picket demanding universal election of Mayor
Today in Volgograd, Communists held another picket in front of the City Duma with a demand to hold a universal election of the Mayor. The action was attended by about 50 people.
They stood with the posters: "We demand universal election of the Mayor!", "Deputies, return worthy Mayor to the city!", "We demand changes to the Statute of Volgograd!" and "The Mayor should be elected by all people!", the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
"As promised, before each session of the City Duma, we hold pickets urging the deputies to return to the issue of elections. At today's session one of the deputies will again raise the issue and ask his colleagues to put it on the agenda," Nikolai Parshin, First Secretary of the Stalingrad Regional Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF), said at the picket.
Should the today's session of the City Duma fail to consider the issue, Communists will continue a series of pickets, said the press service of the above Regional Committee of the CPRF.
