Police disperse protest action of defrauded housing investors in Tbilisi

Today, about 100 defrauded housing shareholders (people who had invested into flats, but received nothing) of the "Centre Point" Company tried to hold a protest action in Tbilisi; however, the action was stopped by the police intervention.

According to the organizer of the action, more than 6000 families across Georgia had signed contracts for the construction of apartments with the "Centre Point", but the company failed to complete construction and announced its bankruptcy.

Today, about 100 clients of the "Centre Point" have demanded to speed up the investigation into the case and punish the perpetrators. The defrauded housing shareholders gathered outside the building of the General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) of Georgia.

Participants of the action wanted to put a tent near the building and start a hunger strike, but the patrol police did not allow them to do it. A GPO official came out to meet the protesters and promised that the case would be investigated objectively, the "Georgia Online" reports.

However, ten defrauded housing investors have gone on hunger strike and demanded to speed up the inquiry, the "Echo of the Caucasus" reports.
