Trial on flood in Krymsk grants petition to disqualify all judges

Today, the Krymsk District Court of the Krasnodar Territory has held a preliminary hearing on the criminal case of the flood in Krymsk in July 2012. The court granted the prosecution's motion for disqualification of all the judges of this court composition. Now, the Territorial Court will make a decision to change the territorial jurisdiction of the case.

The court hearing was scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Moscow time. Despite the fact that earlier the representative of the General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) had told the media that the session would be held in the open mode, today reporters were not let in.

At today's hearing, Tatiana Ulanovskaya, a judge of the Krymsk District Court, had declared her self-disqualification under the motive that one of the defendants in the dock is her husband – Vladimir Ulanovskiy.

According to the press service of the Krasnodar Territorial Prosecutor's Office, in his turn, the state public prosecutor "in order to ensure the objectivity of consideration" challenged all the rest composition of the district court, which consists of eight judges.

According to the state prosecutor, the fact that some of the victims in the case are also relatives of the judges can damage the principle of objectivity.

Having considered the petition of the state prosecution to challenge the Krymsk District Court, the court agreed with the arguments of the Prosecutor's Office and satisfied the stated challenges.
