Ministry of Justice makes protocols on violation of registration of "Golos"

Protocols about violations at registration were drawn up in relation to the Association "Golos" (Vote) and its executive director Lilia Shibanova. According to the Russian Ministry of Justice, the association acts as a foreign agent, but not registered in the appropriate registry. The "Golos" denies receipt of any foreign funds.

On March 2, during the check of non-profit organizations (NPOs)the Prosecutor's Office requested financial and constituent documentsof the NPO Association "Golos in Defence of Voters' Rights".

After reviewing the results of the check of the association, the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation stated that it was conducting political activities on the territory of Russia, in particular, since 2008, it was implementing the project "Increasing transparency of the Russian electoral process on the basis of discussion and promotion of the unified Electoral Code", whose purpose is to draw attention to the need to change the electoral legislation of the country.

Here, the Ministry of Justice finds a violation of the law on activities of NPOs. On April 10, the protocols in respect of the association and Lilia Shibanova will be sent to the court, the website of the Ministry reports.

Ms Shibanova has stated in her comment on the decision of the Ministry of Justice that the "Golos" receives no foreign funding, the RAPSI reports.
