Residents of Sochi recall works by architect Yuri Lvov with thanks

Residents of Sochi are mourning about the death of Yuri Lvov, a famous architect of the city who opposed chaotic town-planning of the health resort and outstanding buildings based on his architecture design stayed in the memory of the townsmen.

Member of the Union of Architects Yuri Lvov died on December, 30, 2012, at the age of 85. This news on the New Year’s eve grieved not only the members of his family and his colleagues but also ordinary residents of Sochi who knew his works.

“He was a hereditary architect who contributed greatly into the architecture of the health resort of Sochi, Olga Kozinskaya, Chairperson of non-governmental association “Town-planning Council of Sochi”, said to the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.

“Yuri Vladimirivich came out strongly against destruction of Sochi by chaotic high-rise buildings. His death on the New Year’s eve became a shock for the whole intelligentsia of Sochi”, member of the Union of Architects of Sochi Alexander Tarasov said.
