20 companies producing wine in Georgia are preparing to export their production to the Russian Federation. Consultations with the respective Russian bodies have already been held, Center of Georgian-Russian economic cooperation reported.

Export of Georgian wines and mineral water will start in the nearest future when the companies accomplish all the necessary procedures, “Georgia Online” referring to a source in the Center of Georgian-Russian economic cooperation reports.

Georgian wine producing companies are already going through a number of registrations, Head of “Gruzpatent” Irakly Gvaladze said. “Active negotiations on export of wine are going between the parties. To export our production it is necessary for the companies to register their brands officially according to the demands of legislation of the Russian Federation”, he said.

According to Gvaladze, the purpose of this registration is to make sure that “the Georgian wines come from Georgia only and eliminate any cases of forgery”, “Novosti-Georgia” reports.
