Activist of oppositional "Public Chamber" of Azerbaijan beaten in NAR
Ibragim Ibragimli, 55, a member of the Coordinating Council of Civil Movement for Democracy "Public Chamber" (known as GDDOP), was brutally beaten in the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic (NAR) brutally beaten by of Azerbaijan, 55-year-old. He received serious injuries.
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by Sardar Djalaloglu, Chairman of the Democratic Party of Azerbaijan, that Ibragimli arrived in Nakhichevan on April 5, at 2:00 p.m. to the funeral of his nephew. From the airport, he went to the village of Tumbul, Babak District of the NAR, which the funeral ceremony took place.
He was captured by persons in civilian clothes near Tumbul and taken away to a place named Duzdag, where he was beaten. He clothes were torn; and he was thrown out in some waste ground. Ibragimli could hardly reach the road and was brought by a passing car to Nakhichevan.
In recent months, Ibragimli has initiated a series of events in Baku with the participation of the NAR natives with the aim to discuss human rights issues in the autonomous republic – the persecution of political activists and businessmen. Ibragimli also prepared and sent collective appeals to international organizations in order to attract their attention to the problems of human rights in the NAR.
Currently, Ibragimli experiencing severe pains in his abdominal cavity and back; he walks hardly with a limp.
