Law enforcers do not rule out workers' guilt of "Grozny City" high-rise fire

From the morning on April 4, the work to clear the area around the complex "Grozny City", where in the evening on April 3 the tower named "Olymp" was on fire. The building was not inhabited; and there were no victims.

"The refurbishment work will begin in the near future. We can state already that only the facade of the building was affected by the fire; and no essential damage was caused to the interior premises," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed at the administration of the city of Grozny.

The fire, according to preliminary data, was triggered by a short circuit in communication networks.

"However, it is possible that workers' actions could cause the fire. Construction teams were busy on the fourth and fifth floors; and they used welding equipment. They are no questioned," the law enforcement bodies of Chechnya report.

The spokesman of the republic's Ministry for Emergencies told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the fire in the tallest building of the complex "Grozny City" stopped after the façade had burnt out.

The fire in the building complex "Grozny City" remains the most discussed news item in Chechnya. Some locals believe that the accident was logical; others express regret.
