Public stops construction of cement plant in North Ossetia

As reported on December 12 to the press conference by Valentin Bazrov, the deputy chairman of the government of North Ossetia, the construction of the cement plant in Alagir was suspended because of dissatisfaction of local residents.

Let us remind you that Alagir residents have complained and held rallies against the construction of the cement plant, which, in their opinion, will cause damage to the environment and human health.

"The project has been evaluated; and a permit to start construction has been received; however, the investor doesn't want to be condemned later. We were told, either you sort things out, or we suspend the construction. There's no environmental issue there, because people do not want to communicate," said Valentin Bazrov.

According to his story, the out-migration from Alagir is the highest in the republic; and if we fail to create jobs, people will leave even such district centres.
