Azerbaijan: action against the arrests of young opposition activists postponed
The protest action against arrests of activists of youth organizations, scheduled for April 12 in Baku, has been postponed indefinitely, said its organizer, the editor-in-chief of "Azadlyg" Ganimat Zakhid.
He wrote on the Facebook: "We've decided to postpone the action scheduled for April 12 and appoint a new date after discussions with activists of various youth organizations. The date of the action will be announced after extensive consultations."
Ganimat Zakhid has emphasizes that the idea of the action had been offered by him quite timely; and "it remains in force; it just won't take place on April 12."
The editor-in-chief of the "Azadlyg" is abroad already for a year. In the autumn of 2011, Mr Zakhid's wife and children were granted political asylum in France. The journalist travels across various countries and is the author of the TV programme "Azerbaijani Hour", which is prepared in Turkey and broadcast from Germany twice a week via a satellite and over the Internet.
