Abkhazia: water supply of Gagra Resort partially damaged
Residents of the resort city of Gagra are without drinking water, as the city water supply was partially destroyed by the storm, the Ministry for Emergencies of Abkhazia reports.
On March 23-24, the storm in the Gagra District reached five-point strength. The height of sea waves exceeded 3.5 meters; and nearby houses were flooded. In the resort town of Pitsunda, located 25 km to the south of Gagra, 14 households were flooded; local residents were promptly evacuated by rescuers. No victims were reported.
In Gagra, the part of the waster supply line that ran along the seashore was destroyed, the "Apsnypress" reports with reference to the MfE of Abkhazia.
The shock wave washed away 650 meters of water pipe, Grigory Enik, the head of the Gagra District, has explained. According to his story, the repairs can take up to ten days, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
