Residents of Kazbek District in Dagestan demand change of district power
Today, the village of Dylym – the centre of the Kazbek District of Dagestan – hosted a meeting of delegates from local villages, where demands for resignation of the head of the district Abdula Makhachev and dissolution of the local assembly of deputies were voiced out.
According to Gayirbi Gayirbiev, one of the organizers of the meeting, it was about one thousand strong.
The action has lasted for two hours and listened to 15 speakers; several more just did not have time. Gayirbi Gayirbiev said that the meeting adopted a resolution and an appeal to the acting head of the republic Ramazan Abdulatipov.
No official from the district or Dylym administrations ever appeared at the meeting. Later, Zikrula Emiev, the head of the district administration, explained their position to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
"We fully support the course of the president and are ready to work under his leadership; however, all other demands of the protesters have no grounds," he said.
According to his version, the organizers of the meeting were the people who had once lost their jobs for various objective reasons, and now want to return them by all means.
