Mikhail Savva: behaviour of power agents at checking NPOs of Krasnodar Territory was incorrect

Mikhail Savva, Deputy Chairman of the Public Council under the Governor of Krasnodar Territory for Development of Civil Society Institutes and the director of grant programmes of the Southern Regional Resource Centre, has stated an incorrect behaviour of law enforcers during inspections of non-profit organizations (NPOs) of the Krasnodar Territory.

At least four organizations are known, where documents were confiscated, namely: the Information and Training Centre in Krasnodar, the Charitable Foundation "Philanthropist", the Children and Youth Organization "Aqua" and the Southern Regional Resource Centre. Besides, searches and revision of documents were held by employees of the prosecutor's office in several dozens of other public and community organizations.

On March 16, Mikhail Savva addressed activists of all the NPOs of the Krasnodar Territory asking them to tell him about the inspections conducted by the FSB agents and employees of the Prosecutor's Office.

"I am aware that some of you could be intimidated. Also, I realize that possibilities for an official in uniform to press a citizen are very high now. But today we need our joint efforts in order to prevent a very serious threat," reads the statement of Mikhail Savva.
