A mass action of oppositional Armenian National Congress (ANC) timed to Human Rights Day was held in Svobody (Freedom) square today.

The meeting organized by ANC in Yerevan lasted about 30 minutes. About 1,5 thousand people took part in it.

According to Aram Manukyan, Deputy of the Parliament from ANC fraction, the “Declaration of Human Rights” adopted on December, 10, 1948, is a Bible of human rights. “It is the most perfect document in the sphere of human rights for mankind has not yet thought of anything better in this sphere”, he said.

Then Levon Zurabyan, Coordinator of ANC, Head of the parliamentary fraction, spoke. He presented to the participants a statement addressed to the Council of Europe.

The document demands release of four convicted ANC activists. It also runs that gross violations took place during parliamentary election on May, 6, which did not become an expression of the popular will.
